Joining the MDIO

Does my district have to pay fees to Rotaract Australia?
No. Fees are voluntary. However they are important to cover vital administrative costs.

How much will voluntary fees be?
Voluntary fees are decided by the DRRs, but will be easily within the financial capabilities of the majority of districts.

Do all Australian Districts vote in elections and proposals of Rotaract Australia?
An Australian based districts is able to vote only when they have officially joined RA by completing both joining forms as per Rotaract Australia Bylaws and RI policy. Both forms are available on the documents page.

Which districts have currently joined and are voting members of Rotaract Australia?
Districts 9455, 9465, 9520, 9550, 9570, 9670, 9680, 9690, 9710, 9750, 9790, 9800 and 9830. Other districts in Australia are encouraged to join and we are adding extra numbers quite regularly.

How does my district join Rotaract Australia?
If 2/3rds of the Rotaract clubs in the district agree to join, and the District Governor has no objection, then the district may join Rotaract Australia. The DRR should then arrange for the joining forms to be completed and returned to the council.

I don't think my district is in a position to support an MDIO, should my district join?
Yes. MDIOs support districts in the area and will help your district become stronger. Joining Rotaract Australia means that you get to vote at meetings of the Council of DRRs so that your districts voice is represented in Rotaract Australia decisions. These decisions help Rotaract Australia to serve and support your district most effectively. Member districts are not required to provide members to serve in Rotaract Australia, nor are they required to supply resources or funds. Joining means the your district has input on the activities of Rotaract Australia. Only member districts can vote on changes to the Rotaract Australia constitution and bylaws.

Can Rotaract Australia tell my club or district what to do?
No. MDIOs have no authority over any clubs or districts and can only make decisions for its own activities.

What is the difference between a club in a member district and a club in a non-member district?
Nothing. A Rotaract club is autonomous and all clubs within the area will be supported by Rotaract Australia. However DRRs have a great influence on the activities of Rotaract Australia through the Council of DRRs, being part of a member district gives a club a voice, through their district representative, that will help to shape Rotaract in Australia.

We don't have a DRR, how do we join Rotaract Australia?
Every district is required to have a DRR. The DRR is the most recent available Past President if there is only one club in the district. Otherwise a DRR should be elected by the Rotaract membership. Once you have a DRR, complete and submit the forms below to become a part of Rotaract Australia.

Will clubs in non-member districts be excluded from Rotaract Australia activities and resources?
No. Rotaract Australia exists to support all Rotaract clubs in Australia.

How do districts vote?
There are 4 Council of DRRs meetings each year where proposals about Rotaract Australia's activities are considered and voted upon. Some meetings will be online and other will be physical meetings. Each district gets one vote. Each district gets one vote in the elections of the Executive including the President.
